Gininda reiterates he requested that Kelly Khumalo be charged

Lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda has been questioned about whether he is certain that singer Kelly Khumalo is the mastermind behind the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.

Meyiwa was shot and killed at Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Five men are on trial at the High Court in Pretoria for the 2014 killing of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Responding to defence counsel, Sipho Ramosepele, Gininda says although Khumalo has not been charged, he believes there is enough evidence to implicate her.

“I am struggling to get the answer if Kelly Khumalo was the kingpin, whether that was part of the narrative that the Office of the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) Pretoria had when they decided on this matter. I don’t know what’s the difficulty in getting an answer. When you submitted that document, was it part of your investigation that you submitted to the DPP before they took that decision that Kelly Khumalo was complicit in the death of Senzo Meyiwa?” asked Ramosepele.

“Yes, I presented all the evidence as it is, and as I indicated, part of my request was that she be charged but there were further instructions in so far as she is concerned at that stage,” says Ramosepele.
