Accused 1, 2 and 3, Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, and Prince Mncube seating in the dock at the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial in Pretoria.
The lead investigating officer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Bongani Gininda, is expected to be back in the witness box in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria this morning.
Yesterday, defence counsel Charles Mnisi questioned why only two out of six witnesses were called to attend the identity parade of the accused.
Meyiwa was gunned down at singer Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus in Gauteng in October 2014.
Khumalo who was the soccer star’s girlfriend, her mother and sister were among the witnesses excluded from attending the identity parade following the arrest of the five accused in the trial.
Kelly, Zandile Khumalo, their mother Gladness Khumalo and Longwe Twala are said to have been present when two alleged intruders entered the Khumalo home and fatally shot the Bafana Bafana captain.
However, Mnisi asked Gininda why only Meyiwa’s friends Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala were called to identify the possible perpetrators.
Gininda says the decision was based on their statements and the credibility of the witnesses as it was a prosecutorial-driven investigation.
