Two killed in suspected gang-related violence in Westbury

Two people have been shot and killed in what is believed to be a gang-related attack in Westbury, west of Johannesburg.

Police say the victims were approached by three unknown men who opened fire on them before fleeing the scene.

Gauteng Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says, “The police in Sophiatown are investigating a case of murder after two men aged 36 and 43 years old were gunned down last night, 25 November 2024 in Westbury. It is reported that the victims were sitting with friends when they were approached by three unknown men wearing masks.”

“They opened fire on the two victims and fled the scene. Both victims were declared dead. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. The police request anyone who may have information that can assist with the investigation to contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111.”
