The police in Gauteng police have arrested yet another suspected drug mule at the O.R. Tambo International Airport.

A 25-year-old Brazilian national was found in possession of drugs worth an estimated R1.8 million.

In September, a 30-year-old Namibian national was arrested after arriving with drugs from São Paulo, Brazil.

Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says the arrests are a result of ongoing police operations.

“On Sunday the 24th of November, we operationalised intelligence arrested a 25-year-old Brazilian national at OR Tambo International Airport for drug trafficking. He was found in possession of over 3 kilograms of drugs wrapped around his body, which was later confirmed to be cocaine with an estimated value of R1.8 million. The suspect had just landed from São Paulo, Brazil, when he was arrested.”
