Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court
The bail application of diamond dealer Louis Liebenberg’s wife Desiree is expected to resume in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court in Pretoria today.
The couple, along with the seven other co-accused, appeared in court where Desiree’s bail application was heard but adjourned to tomorrow. The case relates to an investment scam in which investors were allegedly swindled out of more than R4-billion.
Desiree Liebenberg told the court last Friday that if released on bail, she will not flee the country and will cooperate fully with investigators.
The Liebenberg’s seven co-accused are out on bail.
The accused face charges including 42 counts of fraud, theft, racketeering and money laundering.
The state is opposing Desiree’s release on bail, arguing that she will threaten witnesses and that she is a flight risk.
