Johannesburg Water says that while Rand Water has completed the first phase of its maintenance programme, some residents will have to wait for up to five days before the water supply is fully restored.
Areas supplied by the Commando Water System, South Hills and Crown Gardens, are still recovering as reservoirs and towers gradually refill.
Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says technical teams remain on the ground implementing recovery interventions and monitoring system levels.
She says high-lying areas in Midrand and parts of the Commando network continue to experience slower recovery.
“Recovery is still, however, underway in parts of South Hills, Crown Gardens, the commando system, which comprises Brixton, Crosby and Hursthill, as well as Midrand, particularly areas supplied by the Diepsloot, Rabie Ridge and President Park Reservoirs. Full recovery of impacted systems takes between three and five days. To assist affected areas, our technical teams remain on the ground implementing various operational interventions to support recovery.”
