Senona will not appear before Madlanga Commission on Monday

The Madlanga Commission says suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Head Lesetja Senona will not appear before it when it resumes its hearings in Pretoria on Monday morning.

He will appear on a later day as he does not have access to his devices, including laptops.

Senona is a central figure in the investigation into the mysterious disappearance of 541 kilograms of cocaine worth R200 million in KwaZulu-Natal in November 2021.

Two new witnesses will take the stand.

Meanwhile, the commission has remained mum on the contents of its second interim report that it has submitted to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels says, “The second interim report, which was delivered to President Ramaphosa on Friday, is for his eyes only. In terms of our mandate, the terms of reference – the interim reports are strictly confidential for the President to update him on the progress.”

“I think all South Africans want to see consequences flowing from the work of the Commission. And that has actually been happening. We’ve seen numerous suspensions. The recommendations of the Commission are being implemented,” adds Michaels. -Reporting by Kholofelo Teffo
