295 Ghanaians processed, repatriated from SA to Ghana: BMA

The Border Management Authority (BMA) says 295 Ghanaian nationals were successfully processed and repatriated from South Africa to Ghana through OR Tambo International Airport.

The group travelled on a chartered flight arranged by the Ghanaian government through its High Commission in Pretoria.

The BMA says most of the travellers were undocumented, with many found to have overstayed their visas, resulting in them being declared undesirable under South Africa’s Immigration Act.

Five people were prevented from leaving due to immigration and documentation concerns, including an asylum seeker, a traveller without valid travel documents, and a woman travelling with two minors without the required consent paperwork.

The authority says the move reflects strict enforcement of South Africa’s immigration laws.
