Shebe Maburna back in court, trial expected to begin

Lekompo musician, Lehlogonolo “Shebe Maburna” Chauke is expected to appear at the Polokwane Regional Court in Limpopo on 20 charges, including attempted murder.

The matter was previously adjourned to allow the defence team time to familiarise themselves with additional charges brought against him.

The regional court added 11 new charges to the nine that Chauke was initially facing.

The charges include three counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH), theft, possession of an unlicenced firearm, among others.

The charges have been consolidated from various magisterial districts.

He has been in custody since his arrest in November last year.

In one of the incidents that led to his arrest, Chauke allegedly shot and wounded his fan in Ladanna, Polokwane, in October last year.

His trial is expected to begin on Thursday.
