PA, Al Jama-ah party stand by Ramaphosa on Phala Phala matter

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) and the Al Jama-ah party have indicated that while they will be part of the Impeachment Committee, they are not in favour of impeaching President Cyril Ramaphosa regarding the Phala Phala matter.

Both parties have said that they will stand by Ramaphosa.

The National Assembly (NA) Speaker Thoko Didiza has released the names of the 31 members who will serve on the Impeachment Committee.

Didiza says the PAC and Good Party have indicated that they will not participate in the committee as they each only have one member in Parliament, who also serves in Ramaphosa’s cabinet.

In last week’s subcommittee on the review of the National Assembly rules, MPs were given until Monday to give submissions to Parliament’s legal team.

These submissions will guide Parliament’s Chief Legal Advisor’s office on how parties want to proceed with the changing of the rules of the NA, as ordered by the Constitutional Court.
