The South African Medical Technology Industry Association (SAMED) is expected to hold engagements with the Gauteng Health Department on outstanding payments on Wednesday.
The sessions will take place at the province’s major hospitals.
They include the Chris Hani Baragwanath and the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic hospitals.
Gauteng Health MEC Faith Mazibuko and SAMED members will discuss issues, including payment timelines and patient care.
SAMED’s Monica Lucas says, “We’re continuing our advocacy efforts regarding outstanding payments owed to MedTech suppliers by the Gauteng Department of Health. On Wednesday, we’ll be attending four engagements with the MEC, which are targeted, facility-specific meetings aimed at addressing operational challenges in Supply Chain Management areas, resolving long-outstanding debts at the hospital level.”
