Minister of Employment and Labour, Nomakhosazana Meth.
Employment and Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth has dismissed claims that the closure of the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) employee claims portal has negatively affected beneficiaries.
Meth says the new UIF online platform, launched in April last year, has improved access to services by allowing direct submissions, real-time tracking of claims and automated communication.
She says more than 4.5 million claims have been processed and paid through the new system.
Departmental spokesperson Tebogo Thejane has also assured clients that no applications were lost during the transition from the old uFiling system.
“With the closure of the employee claims portal, we wish to assure clients that no applications were lost. Applications submitted on the uFiling platform have been stored in a separate database, where they are being analysed, verified against system controls and migrated to the new online platform.”
