Joburg investing in water infrastructure: Morero

Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says the City is continuing to invest in water infrastructure and long-term water security measures amid growing pressure on municipal services.

Delivering the State of the City Address, Morero highlighted progress in potable water supply, wastewater treatment, sanitation access and pipe replacement projects across Johannesburg.

He also acknowledged ongoing challenges relating to water restoration delays, saying the City is working to improve response times and strengthen infrastructure resilience.

“We said we will build resilience and reliability on water security. This is work in progress and yes, progress means that work is happening. What does this progress mean? It means approximately 1,700 megalitres per day of potable water supplied through a 12,528 kilometre distribution network.”
