A truck is submerged in water at Meiringspoort during harsh flooding conditions
Damage assessments across the Garden Route and Little Karoo continue following back-to-back storms in the region which left three dead. Road closures and power outages persist and some people have been without electricity for 12 days.
The Garden Route Disaster Management Centre says some schools will still remain closed in the region where there’s been flood and wind damage and where communities have been cut off by floods. pic.twitter.com/ioZTDWKay9

Other major routes such as the Meiringspoort Pass and roads in the Langkloof remain closed.
Garden Route Disaster head, Gerhard Otto says in terms of electricity most of the areas have been restored.
“I know there’s still areas in the Langkloof, struggling to get the line up as well as some of the more remote areas. The main reason is that the Eskom teams cannot reach those areas because it is either too wet, I have seen photos of farmers using tractors to tow Eskom trucks into areas. So, we’re all waiting in anticipation for them to reach those areas.”
