Ekurhuleni City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) will stage a picket on Monday morning against Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla‘s return to office.
Lerutla, who has been on special leave since April, is set to resume his duties on Monday.
He and suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi face charges of fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
The charges stem from a 2019 incident in which Lerutla allegedly failed to appear in court for a speeding offence, and instead arranged for someone to impersonate him.

“It cannot be correct that an accounting officer, accused of fraud, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice in a city like Ekurhuleni, already clouded by so many corruption issues, can continue to serve as the accounting officer and lead such a city,” says DA member in Ekurhuleni, Khathutshelo Rasilingwane.
