Eleven suspects to appear in court over Swartruggens drug lab case

Eleven suspects, including five Mexican nationals, who were arrested in connection with a large-scale illegal drug lab in Swartruggens in North West, are expected to make their first appearance before the local Magistrate’s Court.

The eleven were arrested following a police intelligence-driven operation which led to the discovery of, among others, an illegal drug manufacturing facility worth over a billion rand and approximately 481 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Police say preliminary investigations indicate that the discovered laboratory is the fourth drug laboratory in South Africa with alleged Mexican links.
