Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebe Maburna’ Chauke in court
The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court has denied bail to Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebe Maburna’ Chauke. He has been in custody since November 2025.
Chauke brought a new bail application based on what his defence described as new facts after his initial application was denied.
His legal representative, Advocate Michael Khumalo, told the court that Chauke was not receiving adequate medical attention for a leg injury sustained in a 2024 car accident.
Magistrate Godfrey Netshiozwi says that the reasons presented, including the need to care for his newborn child, do not constitute new facts.
Chauke is facing charges, including attempted murder and is expected to appear at the Polokwane Regional Court on May 15. – Reporting by Nsuku Shiluvana.
