Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in action during a tense Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium
An unsavory incident marred the start of the highly anticipated Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium, in Johannesburg.
A fight broke out between Kaizer Chiefs officials and Orlando Pirates security personnel during the teams warm-ups.
Chiefs abandoned their warm-up session and the tensions spilt over into the tunnel where police had their hands full keeping the two sides apart.
Pirates are the home team and itβs alleged they were not happy with whatever Chiefs officials were doing in their pre-match ritual.

The match was delayed by 45 minutes due to the number of fans still outside the stadium by the time of kickoff.
This allowed Chiefs to complete their warm-up before the rescheduled quarter to four kick-off. At halftime the match was still goalless.
