NC woman gets 14 year jail term for stabbing a teenage girl to death


The Douglas Regional Court in the Northern Cape has sentenced a woman to 14 years’ imprisonment.

Kayleen Johnson had been convicted of stabbing a 15-year-old girl to death and assaulting two women.

This followed an altercation that happened in 2023, in which Johnson had assaulted two other women when she had been released on bail for murder.

She has also been declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Provincial police spokesperson Molefi Shemane says, “The Douglas Regional Court sentenced Kayleene Johnson, who was a minor at the time of the offences, to 10 years imprisonment, which two years are suspended for five years. She was also sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for the two counts of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.”
