LP man in court over fake R20000 AC Milan scam

The case of a 23-year-old Limpopo man accused of scamming a mining company of R20000 will resume in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Setlabo Thaba had solicited donations under false pretences.

He had claimed that the Italian football club, AC Milan, had scouted him and needed funds to travel in August last year.

The company and some individuals donated money to Thaba.

Thaba appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court and was granted a R1000 bail.

The mining company, Moruleng Mining Company, says that after they donated the money, Thaba showed them fake flight tickets after he informed them that he had boarded a flight to Italy.

The company became suspicious when AC Milan sent an appreciation letter and requested more.
