Inquest into death of Anele Tembe postponed to July 13

The matter probing the death of Anele Tembe has been postponed to the 13th of July in the Cape Town Magistrates Court.

Tembe was the fiancé of rapper AKA, Kiernan Forbes at the time.

The 22-year-old died nearly five-years ago, after she fell from the 10th floor of a Cape Town hotel in Loop Street. At the time, the details surrounding the incident were unclear.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says the inquest has been set for three days in July.

Six witnesses are expected to testify. Ntabazalila says Thursday’s proceedings were to confirm the readiness of all parties involved.

“It is the findings of that inquest that will determine a way forward on how this matter is being moved forward. So I think its better for us to allow that process to take its place before we can make any pronouncements, before it even starts. So one would ask that we leave it at that stage and let the inquest start and have the findings of that inquest which in the end may be referred to us as the NPA for a decision.”
