TMPD Chief Yolande Faro shocked by corruption allegations

Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Chief Yolande Faro has expressed shock at the alleged siphoning of funds in the unit.

She is testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.

The commission is focusing on alleged corruption and tender manipulation in the City of Tshwane and the metro police department.

Faro says there are serious criminal activities in the department.

“Recently, I have observed certain things within the Tshwane Metro Police Department, which have led me to take certain corrective steps and, where necessary, consequence management is in progress. However, over the past weeks, I have come to learn with great shock and dismay about what was apparently taking place in the TMPD, whether it was before my tenure or whether it was now in this time. It is not, it would seem, issues of irregularities, but clear systems of siphoning of money and criminal activities.”
