SACP in the North West describes Maape as a great mentor

The SACP in the North West has described the late Premier Bushy Maape as a great mentor. Maape was the North West Premier between 2021 and 2024.

He passed away after a short illness in Johannesburg last weekend at the age of 68.

Speaking at Maape’s special official provincial funeral at Huhudi Stadium in Vryburg, SACP provincial chairperson Smuts Matshe says, “Comrade Bushy Maape to some of us, he is not just a leader, he’s our brother, he is our political father. We were mentored by him. He taught us the values of our movement, most importantly, he also showed us how those values get applied in government. What’s also important to note is that he was quite passionate about education.”
