All members including those from SACP must vote for ANC: Ramaphosa

African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says all party member including the South African Communist Party (SACP) members must vote for the ANC in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Ramaphosa said this at the conclusion of the party’s Limpopo Elective Conference in Polokwane.

Some party members hold dual membership with the ANC and the SACP.

The SACP has decided to contest independently in the elections.

Ramaphosa says the party’s National General Council (NGC) will look into the SACP issue.

He says, “We must make sure that everyone of us commits themselves to campaigning for the ANC, every one of us, every one of us without exception. That is that the NGC also said, I know that we are going to have to address fully and completely to clarify this issue of the SACP because members of the SACP are also members of the ANC. Now we say every ANC member underline every ANC member must campaign for the African National Congress.”

He also says factional infighting affects the people.

Ramaphosa says, “It is only a strong and united ANC that can address the challenges that our nation and our country faces. If we are not united, if we are factionalised, if we fight amongst ourselves, if we are not able comrade to find solutions to our differences and if our structures are rocked by divisions and fighting.”

GEO-POLITICAL TENSIONS

Ramaphosa says the country is experiencing challenges due to the on-going geo-political tensions.

He says, “We must as a country confront more immediate challenges and the more immediate challenge is the war that is now raging in the Middle East that has continued to rage in the eastern Europe, and is driving energy prices, food prices are also beginning to rise, there’s disruption to shipping and to the global trade routes around the world, higher inflation is now going to be seen.”
