Ramaphosa says NHI key to bridging public-private healthcare Gap

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the implementation of the National Health Insurance(NHI) is key to closing the gap between public and private healthcare in the country.

In his weekly letter, he highlights stark inequalities in access to quality healthcare, despite progress in the public system.

His remarks follow a groundbreaking surgery at Mankweng Hospital in Limpopo province, where conjoined twins were successfully separated.

Ramaphosa says the success reflects the potential of public healthcare when properly supported.

He maintains that access to quality healthcare should not depend on income or location.
