The Inkatha Freedom Party’s (IFP) leadership is hosting an event to mark the party’s 51st anniversary and commemorate Human Rights Day in Bethal, Mpumalanga. The party says it will use the event to engage with supporters, on socio- economic issues including unemployment, water shortages and lack of service delivery.

IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa says its been 51 years since the party’s inception and they continue to lead South Africans towards a brighter future.
“We declare this story of service, and stewardship with conviction that the freedom of our people must be defended, not only in law, but in daily dignity of work and safety.’
Hlabisa adds that his party is ready for the upcoming local government elections, with the date to be announced soon. He says their main focus is to increase the party’s support base in all provinces.
“We are taking the IFP to have a strong national footprint beyond 50 years. As we are 51 years now, it’s exactly what we are doing as we are here. On my right-hand side, Mr Gwala, our national chairperson is deployed in Limpopo and North West. And that is another area beside Gauteng where we are going to register our footprint and have our councillors in this upcoming local government similar in Western Cape.”
