Zuma calls for united front with EFF to complete liberation struggle

uMkhoto weSizwe (MK) Party’s president, Jacob Zuma, says the party must join hands with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to achieve what he calls total liberation of black people in South Africa.

Zuma was speaking during his visit to EFF leader Julius Malema’s family home in Seshego, in Polokwane, Limpopo, to pay his last respect following the passing of Malema’s maternal aunt.

Martha Malema passed away last week.

Zuma was greeted with cheering and singing from members of both EFF and MK Party. Zuma says despite differences in ideologies, both parties must close ranks to emancipate black people from economic oppression.

“We believe, I believe, we believe that I have talked to uMkhonto we Sizwe that there is no need for us to be separated by the whites. Absolutely no need. We need to come together even if we have different organisations or views but there must be something that says we need to be together so that we can liberate black people. it is a clear thing that if we don’t we are going to be slaves forever and we do not want that. I believe that whilst we are still alive we must be in charge of this country.”

Zuma says human rights and freedom for the majority of black people in South Africa only exist on paper.

“We have been oppressed in this country and even when we say we are free we are actually not free. we are suffering as we were suffering. the only thing people said was freedom was to take something in the freedom charter and say all of us was equal. human rights human rights nothing more than that and we cant say we are free.”

EFF president Julius Malema could not address the crowd and members of the media as he is mourning.
