Witness at Madlanga Commission denies tipping off Matlala about house raid

A member of the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, has denied allegations that he tipped off attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi Cat” Matlala about a raid at his house on 6 December 2024.

Evidence before the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria shows that Sergeant Nkosi was in constant communication with Matlala a day before and on the day of the raid.

However, Sergeant Nkosi says the reason why he was in constant communication with Matlala was that his name kept popping up after a mother and child were kidnapped in Copperleaf, Gauteng.

“We followed the information, then we went to the said address, maybe after two or three days. It was around those times. But unfortunately, we did not get anything in those said addresses. But as we were continuing, because I was personally involved there, Mr. Matlala’s name kept on popping out. But unfortunately, the complainant was skeptical to say exactly what is happening, he was Mr. Matlala’s friend.”
