All 2026 online admission applicants have now been placed: Chiloane

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says all Grade One and Eight learners who applied through the 2026 Online Admissions system have now been placed.

The last 484 learners, mainly from Tembisa and Kempton Park in Johannesburg, were placed at alternative schools on Monday.

This brings the total number of learners placed to over 390,000.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the online admission system remains an important tool that will ensure all schools accept children as they are.

“The department wishes to express its sincere appreciation for the patience that has been shown by parents and guardians. MEC did indicate that the online admission system remains an important tool, which will then ensure that all our schools accept children as it were.”
