Western Cape police reinforced by return of senior detectives


The Western Cape Police top brass has announced the return of 62 senior detectives who had either resigned or retired from the South African Police Service.

This was revealed at a media briefing in Cape Town during the release of the crime statistics for the province for third quarter, from October to December 2025.

The return of these senior detectives will help will bolster investigations in the province.

Police management say collectively the detectives have hundreds of years of experience and that their expertise will assist in convictions and successful prosecutions. Their re-introduction comes as police say violent crime, particularly gun violence remains concerning.
