There will be nowhere to hide for criminals: President

President Cyril Ramaphosa says government will be strengthening the Hawks and other entities to tackle corruption.

He says the Whistleblowers Bill will also be introduced in Parliament.

Ramaphosa is delivering the State of the Nation Address at the Cape Town City Hall in the Western Cape.

The President says there will be nowhere to hide for criminals.

Ramaphosa adds that the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee exposed corruption within the South African Police Service and in some metro police units through the abuse of power.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola says a newly established task team, which will probe SAPS members implicated at the commission has been given a time frame of three months to complete its work.

The establishment of the task team follows a directive from the Presidency, prompted by the submission of an interim report from the commission.
