State Advocate George Baloyi at the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial at the High Court in Pretoria on 12 September, 2022.
The state in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has raised concerns over the repetition in the testimony of accused two, Bongani Ntanzi. Ntanzi has been testifying at the High Court in Pretoria where he is appearing alongside five of his co- accused.
They have been charged with the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.
State Prosecutor George Baloyi says defence counsel, Sipho Ramosepele, has been taking Ntanzi through the same evidence.
Baloyi: Ever since accused number 2 started giving evidence, every time when we resume, he goes back to what he said the previous day, and repeats his evidence, and the record will show that, repeats what he said the previous day, then continues.
Ramosepele: But also, my lord, I cannot leave that unchallenged. My lord, every time we come from an adjournment, we remind a witness that we were here before we adjourned, now we are moving. We are not rehashing the old evidence. I don’t know what he’s talking about.
