Signage warning motorists of a closed road.
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services has advised motorists to plan ahead and expect delays in the CBD.
Several roads around and leading to the Cape Town City Hall will be cordoned off in preparation for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) at 7pm.
Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin Jacobs says several road closures are already in place around the City Hall precinct.
“Motorists are requested to limit non-essential travel in the CBD area over the period in question. Factor in additional travel time if they must move in and out or around the CBD and surrounds, as traffic volumes will likely be elevated. Plan routes accordingly. Keep intersections free between light changes as blocking interchanges causes further delays.”
