Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Overberg
The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning of severe thunderstorms in parts of the Western Cape on Monday.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Overberg and Southern Cape Winelands early morning.
The weather service says this may lead to localised flooding and large amounts of small hail.
It says the heavy rain may cause major travel disruptions and can be aggravated with possible falling trees blocking major roads.

Meanwhile, a heavy hailstorm hit the village of KwaNikhwe in Mbizana, Eastern Cape, destroying homes and damaging vehicles. The storm also resulted in power outages, flash flooding, and damage to property, crops and vehicles.
The hail, which was the size of golf balls, tore apart corrugated iron houses, leaving many families homeless.
Many villagers lost everything and are now calling on government to intervene, as unfavorable atmospheric conditions continue to disrupt many communities in rural areas.
A resident Yogi Jakuja explains, “It was raining as normal but all of a sudden we noticed that there is a scarfy sound, and then we saw hailstones heating hard on the roof top, we saw windows breaking into pieces. We saw our laundry flying all over the house and all windows are gone, and we were then blocked by a pile of ice balls, and we could not go outside.”
