Police have opened an inquest docket after one of the men implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry allegedly killed himself at a filling station in Brakpan last night.
Forty-one-year-old Wiandre Pretorius was mentioned at the Commission by Marius van der Merwe, who testified under the name of Witness D.
Van der Merwe implicated Pretorius in the murder of a man whose body was subsequently dumped in a dam in April 2022.
Last week, he survived an attempt on his life when his car was pumped with 16 bullets by three men who approached him in front of a house in Boksburg.
He sent a distress signal on a community WhatsApp group during the attack. Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says the matter is under investigation.
