The City of Tshwane MMC for Utilities, Frans Boshielo, has confirmed that most reservoirs in the city are currently above 50% capacity.
Parts of the city have experienced water cuts since last week due to interruptions in the Rand Water system, which supplies 80% of the city’s water.
Boshielo says although the reservoirs ran dry in the western parts of the metro, levels have stablised overnight.
“We were receiving a notification from Rand Water that they have got a problem in their system. Our reservoir ran dry, all our Reservoir on the western parts of Tshwane were running dry and most of the people were not having water. But we can announce that currently that all out reservoirs have been restored, because the problems that were heavy at the Rand Water have been fixed. When we were sleeping last night all the reservoirs were on the healthy status of 50% level upwards.”
