Case opened after Mpumalanga learner accidentally killed by scholar bus


A case of culpable homicide has been opened with Mpumalanga police following the tragic death of a five-year-old learner from Thanda Primary School in Emjejane, Nkomazi.

The Grade R learner was apparently run over by a scholar transport bus Thursday afternoon.

According to the provincial Department of Education, learners were preparing to board the bus after school when the girl was accidentally struck by the reversing vehicle while she was in its blind spot.

As investigations into this incident continue, officials from the department are expected to visit the school and the family of the deceased learner this afternoon.
