Alleged crime kingpin Katiso Molefe is expected to appear in the High Court in Johannesburg on Thursday morning.
His case was transferred from the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in December last year after prosecutors received authorisation to centralise the Vereeniging docket, citing the seriousness of the charges he faces.
Molefe and his co-accused, Michael Pule Tau, Tiego Floyd Mabisela and Musa Kekana, face charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, and other serious offences.
The state alleges that Molefe orchestrated the murder of Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, who was gunned down on November 20, 2022, in Woodmead.
According to the state, forensic evidence links the high-calibre rifles used in DJ Sumbody’s murder to several other high-profile killings, including those of Hector Buthelezi, known as DJ Vintos, Don Tindleni and Armand Swart.
