KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka has ordered that over 20 learners from flood affected families be absorbed at Durban’s Addington Primary School.
Altogether 26 of these learners were brought to the school in uniforms.
This is after two weeks of protests by the March and March movement and supporters of the MK Party.
The protestors were accusing the school and the department of admitting children of foreign nationals over those of South Africans.
Hlomuka has however accused the protesters of politicking.
He emphasised that the absorption of these learners is an extraordinary measure and won’t be repeated.
