Action SA calls for next SARS Commissioner to be appointed internally

Action SA is calling for the next South African Revenue Service (SARS) Commissioner to be appointed from within the organisation.

The party says this would ensure continuity and protect the institution’s credibility, following Edward Kieswetter‘s impending departure.

Action SA Member of Parliament Alan Beesley says, “We’ve seen what cadre deployment has done and continues to do around the country, it’s been decimating when we put the wrong people in charge, and everything rises and falls on leadership.”

“So, it’s imperative that we get the right person in place, and under commissioner Kieswetter, he’s got very competent staff, he’s walked alongside them for several years, they should be given the chance to take SARS forward in the next several years,” Beesley adds.
