11 people killed in Isipingo crash 


Eleven people have reportedly been killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles on the R102 in Isipingo, Durban.

ALS Paramedics Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson is urging motorists to use alternative routes.

Jamieson says the events leading up to the incident are not clear.

He says, “At this stage, I can confirm that 11 people have been confirmed deceased on the scene and approximately eight others have been rushed through to various hospitals for further they sustain various to critical injuries as a result of this accident.”

“I can confirm that, unfortunately, one child has passed away. At this stage, the taxi driver is still severely entrapped and the fire department is working hard to extricate the patient.”

He says, “ALS paramedics are currently at a scene of a horrific crash where multiple fatalities have been reported on our 102 near Lotus Park just off the M35 south of Durban. Additional ambulance, as well as advanced life support paramedics, are mobile to assist.”

Jamieson says, “I advise motorists to avoid this area at all cost it’s quite a gruesome scene and with so many facilities, it’s going to be quite a long time that the scene will be cleared.”
