Women’s singles semi-final line-up at Australian open complete

The women’s singles semi-finals line-up at the Australian Open in Melbourne is now complete.

Fifth seed, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan and American sixth seed, Jessica Pegula, have joined world number one, Aryna Sabalenka and Croatia’s Elena Svitolina, in the last four.

Rybakina, who won the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals at the end of last year, beat world number two and six-time Grand Slam champion, Iga Swiatek of Poland, 7-5, 6-1.

Swiatek will therefore have to wait another year for another attempt at the only Grand Slam she hasn’t won.

Rybakina will play Pegula in Thursday’s semifinal.

The 31-year-old American, the oldest of the four semifinalists, defeated compatriot Amanda Anisimova, 6-2, 7-6 in today’s other quarterfinal.
