Nelson Mandela Bay Metro hit by major power outage

The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in the Eastern Cape is currently facing a major power outage affecting large parts of the Metro.

Areas affected include Forest Hill, Newton Park as well as the Western Suburbs.

The municipality has also has urged residents to exercise extreme caution as windy conditions continue.

The cause of the power outage is under investigation by a technical team.

Metro Spokesperson, Sithembiso Soyaya, says, “The municipality is aware of a major power outage affecting large parts of the Metro including areas such as Summerstrand, Walmer, Chatty and surrounding areas. Our technical teams are on site and investigating the cause. While restoration times cannot yet be confirmed, efforts are made to restore power quickly. Updates will be shared as information becomes available.”
