Second baby among Limpopo triplets dies at Letaba hospital

A second baby in the set of triplets born at the Letaba Hospital, outside Tzaneen earlier this week has died.

The provincial health department has confirmed that the baby died on Saturday night.

It says she was born with a heart condition which led to respiratory complications.

This follows the death of the only boy in the set of triplets after experiencing breathing complications.

Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego says the surviving child is receiving specialised care at the Mankweng Hospital.

“We are sad to confirm the passing of the second baby of the triplets, whom we lost last night because of respiratory distress complications, so we are saying we have now lost two babies, and the one that is remaining has been transferred to Mankweng for further care.”
