Lawyer alleges witness contradicted himself in Lusikisiki mass murder


Accused Number Two, Aphiwe Ndende’s defence lawyer in the mass murder of 18 people at Ngobazana Village in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape, has accused state witness, Lwando Abi, of contradicting himself.

Advocate Mawande Nokhwali was cross-examining, accused turned state witness, Abi, at the Mthatha High Court sitting in Lusikisiki.

Six men are facing multiple murder charges for the brutal killing of 18 people at Ngobozana village in September 2024.

Nokhwali says Abi, in his first statement, said the firearms used in the killing of the 18 people were in a bag, while in his confession he said he found them leaning against the wall.

He further says Abi told the police that he called his wife after the shooting incident at Ngobozana village, but in the other statement he said his wife called him.

In his reply, Abi, said he is sure he called his wife.

The case has been postponed to Monday next week.
