Police confirm foreign nationals among five killed in Atteridgeville

Police say three of the five men killed outside a local tuck shop in Jeffsville, Atteridgeville, in Pretoria are foreign nationals.

The other two have not been identified.

The motive for the murders is not yet known.

Gauteng police are currently combing through the crime scene at the informal settlement.

SAPS Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Samuel Thine says, “We are still interviewing witnesses to confirm and give us more details as to the number of suspects and what the suspects were using. Because it cannot be confirmed right now whether the suspects were travelling in a vehicle or were on foot. But it is confirmed that there is a suspect that was seen shooting.”

“What we’ve gathered is that four of the victims were passing by the shop and one of the victims was about to get outside the shop. Three bodies have been confirmed and identified and it is believed that they are foreign nationals,” adds Thine.
