Two suspects killed during shootout with police in Durban


Two suspects have been killed during a shootout with police in the Kennedy Road informal settlement in Durban.

Police say the suspects were wanted in connection with armed robberies along the N2 and M19 freeways.

The incident follows the arrest of another suspect believed to be an accomplice of the two.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says police found two firearms.

“Follow-up investigations led the police to a shack at Kennedy Road informal settlement, where two wanted suspects were hiding. During the operation, a shootout ensued between the police and the suspects. Two suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shootout. Two firearms were found in their possession. police officers were not injured.”
