Six people have been shot dead in separate incidents in Cape Town.
Western Cape Police Spokesperson Andre Traut says officers responded to a report in Melck Street in Ndabeni, where they found four people dead inside an informal dwelling.
The motive for the incident is unclear.
He says in a separate incident, two men were killed and two others wounded in a suspected gang-related shooting near the cemetery in Kensington.
Traut says no arrests have been made.
“The South African Police Service in the Western Cape strongly condemns the senseless violence that claimed four lives in Maitland and two lives in Kensington during two separate shooting incidents in the early hours of this morning.”
Traut adds: “Our detectives are working tirelessly, following up on every lead to identify and apprehend those responsible. SAPS will not tolerate this level of violence and will pursue the perpetrators relentlessly with the full might of the law until they are brought to justice.”
