Xolani Khumalo is the ActionSA mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni.
ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate, Xolani Khumalo, has been granted R 2000 bail by the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Khumalo handed himself over at the Katlehong police station in Ekurhuleni after an alleged drug dealer laid a charge of assault against him.
ActionSA believes these development comes amid escalating tensions in Ekurhuleni, where his push for accountability has rattled drug syndicates.
They claim his efforts have uncovered links between drug dealers and local businesses, leading to arrests and raids that disrupted operations worth millions through his popular TV show, Sizok’thola.
Earlier this year, charges of murder, robbery, and malicious damage to property against Khumalo and his TV show crew were provisionally withdrawn.
They had been charged with murdering an alleged drug dealer in July 2023.
Khumalo claims that drug syndicates, crime and corruption have taken over the City of Ekurhuleni leading to the disruption of service delivery.
A calm and composed Khumalo says he is not intimidated and will continue fighting until his last breath.
“Unfortunately this is the country we live in and we are ruled by criminals. Outlaw enforcement is influenced by criminals but I will not stop. The only way to stop me is for them to kill me but what I know is that this is my home and this is my country I will fight till the end,” Khumalo says.
Khumalo adds, “So they just bought attention to themselves. Ekurhuleni is very close to my heart and here in Katlehong.”
ActionSA National Chairperson, Michael Beaumont, says as the party they are still confident that Khumalo is the man to lead the City of Ekurhuleni.
“We couldn’t have chosen a better candidate. The fact that police members at a station like this will harass Xolani Khumalo for doing the right thing and fight against drug dealers in this community means we have chosen the right candidate. And look around you, this community is speaking for itself they want leadership that fight crime drug dealings and ultimately that’s what they have in Xolani Khumalo and we stand with him 100% and we will campaign night and day to make him mayor of Ekurhuleni.”
Khumalo is expected to appear again in court on the 18th of February.
