Two people have been arrested in connection with a triple murder in Meqheleng, Ficksburg, in the Free State. Police say officers were alerted to gunshots coming from rented rooms in the area on Friday.
They discovered the bodies of three men aged between 26 and 28 in a pool of blood.
The suspects are expected to appear in a local magistrate’s court soon.
Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says they launched an immediate intelligence-led multidisciplinary response, leading to the arrest of two male foreign nationals aged 26 and 29 in less than 24 hours after the incident.
“During the manhunt, one suspect was intercepted at a taxi rank while attempting to flee to a neighboring country. The second suspect was discovered by Anti-Gang operators hiding in a house within Meqheleng. The motive for the killings is still unknown at this stage. We are appealing to anyone with information that can assist with investigation to come forward.”
